To continue the story. . .
We went back to the hospital at 10:30 PM, and things hadn't changed much. Good, regular contractions, but not much dilation going on. They decided to go ahead and start the pitocin though, and gave Kristin an Ambien to help her sleep. The first step was to wire her to every machine they could find. I never knew I had a bionic wife. By the end of the night, there were ten different things attached to her. Not all are shown here, but you get the idea.

The pitocin sucked. The Ambien was worse. At least for a poor little Mormon girl who doesn't even hardly drink caffeine. Kristin was confused beyond belief, disoriented and crying. It was probably the hardest part of the whole thing for me, until we finally got her calmed down a little bit. It was kind of cool though, because the only thing that really made her feel better was me. She kept saying, "I just want to see your face," which was hard for her because her vision was a little blurred and she was slightly dizzy.
At around 3 AM, she had finally dilated enough that they decided to give her an epidural. She didn't like the process much, but the results speak for themselves. Right after the procedure, she was asking how long before it took effect. The nurse anesthitist was giving all the pat answers, "Well, it's different for everybody," etc, and then the nurse said, "How was that contraction." Kristin replied, "I'm not having one." But she was. What a relief for everybody! After that, the anesthetist was her best friend, and she promised to bring him cookies. Of course, it also helped that she knew him from work. He was just surprised to see her there, since he last saw her at work in the operating room just on Monday! Here is Kristin, relieved after the epidural.

After that , we all took a two hour nap, and were awaked by the nurse informing us that Kristin was now dilated to a nine, she was calling the doctor, and it was about time to have a baby. After that, it really didn't take long. The actual pushing was quick, and then, what you've all been waiting for . . . Addison arrived!

What a cute little girl! 6 lbs 0 oz, 18 inches long, born at 6:37 AM. Dad got to hold her hand . . .

but only briefly before they whisked her away to the nursery. She managed to aspirate and swallow a fair amount of blood and fluid on the way out, so she got to be hooked up to a bunch of stuff just like her mom.

Don't be alarmed, she is doing really well. Because of the blood, they just wanted to make sure her lungs were clear and her tummy was empty of all that nasty stuff.
And now, the gratuitous "cute" pictures that you all came for.
